| Rumex nepalensis occuring in Japan is protected by some national and lical laws and regulations as a threatend plant. The legislation was based on a conception that the species has been a local variety of Rumex nepalensis and endemic to Japan. However, if the plant is not endemic to Japan then legal validity of such a legislation (especially penal provisions) may be in doubt. |
